General information about the Bioscrub active ingredient (namely chlorhexidine):
Pharmacological action
Bioscrub is an antiseptic agent with chlorhexidine as the active against vegetative forms of gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria and yeasts, dermatophytes and lipophilic viruses. The Bioscrub is effective against bacterial spores, it cleans and disinfects the skin without causing damage, making it ideal as pre-permanent makeup procedure disinfectant/cleanser.
Why is Bioscrub prescribed?
Treatment of wounds and surfaces, disinfection of the patient’s skin.
Treatment of surgeons, nurses and technicians hands and operating field prior to procedures.
Disinfection of work surfaces of devices and equipment which heat treatment is not desirable.
Dosage and administration
To use only locally and topically on skin during procedures: make a solution of 20% Bioscrub to 80% distilled water.
For washing and preparing of hands prior to treatment:
Bioscrub should be used undiluted. Wet hands, add approximately 5ml Bioscrub and wash for one minute (use a nail brush for finger nails). Rinse. Immediately prior to treatment/surgery – repeat and scrub for 2 minutes.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to chlorhexidine, dermatitis, allergic reactions. May cause irritation of the conjunctiva and other sensitive tissues. Ototoxicity may occur.
Special instructions
Remains active in the presence of impurities of blood and organic matter. Prevent from entering into the eyes.
Avoid using with iodine preparations.
Bioscrub drug interactions
Chlorhexidine is incompatible with soap and detergents containing anionic group (saponins, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose).
This medicine is compatible with any medication containing cationic group (cetrimonium bromide, benzalkonium chloride).
Use topically only.
Not to be taken orally.
